Welcoming by our driver and local English-speaking guide. Departure to discover the capital Phnom Penh, located along the Mekong River. Phnom Penh is a surprisingly lively city, constantly moving, rich in heritage and history. Lunch is included in a local restaurant.
Visit of the Royal Palace, a symbol of richly decorated Khmer architecture, built in 1866 by King Norodom. This majestic palace houses the famous Silver Pagoda, known for its 5,000 silver tiles covering the floor, as well as its impressive Buddha statues, including a replica of the Emerald Buddha and a solid gold Buddha encrusted with 9,584 diamonds.
Continuation with a visit to the National Museum, housed in a striking red building, one of the finest examples of Khmer architecture, featuring rich collections illustrating Cambodia’s artistic history: sculptures, statues, costumes…
In the afternoon, visit Wat Phnom temple, built on an artificial hill and filled with relics of various origins (the city’s name is believed to come from it). Continue with the Independence Monument in the shape of a lotus flower, built to commemorate Cambodia’s independence.
