Liam Mertens’ Group – An emotional journey through the Splendors of Tonkin

Returning to one’s homeland, to one’s roots, is one of the most beautiful experiences life can offer…

After years away from their country of birth, Liam and Yoran have finally returned to Vietnam. This was no ordinary journey—it was a journey to reunite with their family, reconnect with their roots, and rediscover the place where it all began. Years of separation cannot be erased in an instant. Yet sometimes, a single glance, a warm embrace, or a shared meal is enough to revive bonds that time has never truly broken. Vietnam has a unique way of welcoming its own home, as if time had simply stood still.
Their mother shared with emotion: My heartfelt thanks for the exceptional organization of this journey, which will remain forever engraved in their hearts. This trip was so much more than a holiday: it gave them the opportunity to reunite with their birth family. These reunions are a unique and precious moment in their lives. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping make this possible. A truly grateful mother.”
At Villages Vietnam, we are deeply moved and honored to have been part of this beautiful family reunion. Being able to contribute, even in a small way, to such meaningful moments is undoubtedly the greatest reward of our work. We wish Liam, Yoran, and Emilie a reunion filled with emotion, joy, and unforgettable memories with their loved ones.

Internet access is easy and affordable. Most hotels, cafés, and restaurants offer free Wi-Fi. If you want to stay connected all the time on your phone, you can buy a local SIM card. It gives you a stable connection during your trip for a very good price.
