Itinerary
Free time until transfer to the airport for your flight to Dien Bien Phu. Welcome by our driver and transfer to the hotel.
Walk and visit to Hill D1 (Dominique 2), followed by a tribute to former soldiers at the French Soldiers’ Memorial.
Hotel check-in, free dinner, and overnight stay.
The entire day is dedicated to discovering the vestiges of the historic battle. The tour begins at the Historical Museum of Dien Bien Phu, displaying over 1,000 objects, documents, and photographs, as well as the largest oil-painted panoramic fresco in Asia.
The exhibition retraces the strategic location of Dien Bien Phu, the French positions, and the preparation of the campaign by Vietnamese forces.
Continuation to the fortified camp positions with visits to emblematic sites: Éliane 2 Hill, PC GONO, Bailey Bridge, M24 tanks, and other powerful testimonies of “open-air history.”
In the afternoon, departure to Muong Phang valley, located 30 km from the city, accessible via Route 279 (formerly Route 41 during the campaign). Nestled in dense forests and mountain ranges, this site offered a strategic view over the Muong Thanh plain, the main battlefield.
It served as the Viet Minh headquarters from January 31 to May 15, 1954. Visit of General Giap’s command post, the tunnel dug into the mountain, and discovery of the impressive logistical organization set up during the campaign.
On the return journey, stop to observe heavy cannons hidden in the forest—symbols of the Viet Minh’s decisive and surprising strategy.
